My Supplements
While I don’t want to spend a lot of time on supplements, I do feel it is necessary to disclose the supplements that I do take on a consistent basis. I take 3 specific supplements to help aid my CrossFit WODs and my Paleo lifestyle. I believe that all 3 have helped to promote my endurance, stamina, and overall health and wellbeing. I have added a Pre & Post recovery drink to my redgimen. Keep in mind it is not my position to promote or sell any of the listed supplements nor it is my intent to get you to purchase any supplements, especially the ones I use. I’m simply telling you what has worked for me personally. I know the mention of supplements will tend to draw a lot of controversy and discussion. My intent of this disclosure is simply to let you know that I am in fact supplementing my diet and exercise program. Simply stated, it’s my opinion and I’m not looking for controversy or heavy discussion on the information I’m disclosing about my supplement choices or use.
Fish Oil - I don’t have much to say on this supplement as there are so many articles and blogs that cover this supplement from every angle. All is can say is that this single supplement plays a major role in my joint care, heart health, recovery and general wellbeing. If you are only going to take one supplement, take this one! Please visit Whole9life http://whole9life.com/2010/03/robb-wolf-fish-oil-calculator/ to read up on the great benefits of fish oil and how it can help aid you in your fitness and life goals. More specifically if you are interested, this is the exact Fish Oil that I take http://www.strongerfasterhealthier.com/products/omega-3oil I take 4tsp per day, 2tsp after my morning meal and 2tsp after my evening meal. I use the OmegaMaine omega-3 oil – 10 oz in the orange flavor. This is the most potent Fish Oil on the market, which allows you to take less and leaves NO fish burps! I’ve tried both the mint and the chocolate and to me, they are yucky! The orange is by far the best in my opinion.
Multivitamins - None
Protein Powder - while this supplement is controversial within the CrossFit and Paleo communities, I have and continue to use a good whey protein powder from time to time. While I don’t take it daily, I do work it in and out of my nutrition plan, mostly when I’m working specifically on higher protein needs or when I’m off my more strict Paleo diet. A good whey protein powder can be purchased at any heath and fitness store or online. Search online health stores and check the user reviews and/or ratings and aim for something in the 9.0 or above range.
Pre & Post Workout Recovery Drinks - I take the following Pre Workout drink to fuel my body: Amino Energy. 4 scoops, mixed with 18 oz water 20 min before my WOD. Immediately following my WOD I take the following Post Workout drink to replenish & re-fuel my body: Platinum Hydro Builder. 1 scoop, mixed with 18 oz water. My post WOD shake has whey protein, creatine, BCAAs and Glutamine for recovery.
