My Goals
So a quick reflection on last year. 2011 was a very difficult year for me and my family emotionally, financially, and for me personally, physically. I’ve struggled with a lot of things this past year, and still continue to do so, almost daily. But, with my struggles, have come some significant victories and achievements. Looking back, with all the struggle, I’m happy to report that I am now more mentally and physically stronger entering 2012 than I was entering 2011! If I was to place a percentage of completion on my goals for 2011, I would I have to say around 75 percent or maybe just slightly higher. What’s funny, is some of my initial goals, became less important to me as the year went on, some actually falling by the way side.
Now onto my goals for 2012! I have found myself revisiting this page often, so I can see and visualize my goals first hand. This single act has helped me tremendously, but I have still had to re-write and re-set many of my goals over the year and continue to do so even now as we speak. Reflecting on 2011 and looking forward to 2012 I see great things ahead for me personally and for my CrossFit by BodyFit family! I’m super excited about everything and everyone at CFBF and happy to be a part of such a great gym and community! The love and support are second to none and I have made some super, life-long friends that make working on and obtaining my goals more doable.
Since I started CrossFit in 2008, I started setting goals at the beginning of each year. The first year or two, the goals were simple, mostly just to lose weight, stay in shape, and maybe do more wods as prescribed. With over four years of crossfitting, and two years primal/paleo, it has simply become ingrained into my life, and has now focused me to set my goals on helping others first, and then on my own performance.
I am a strong believer that everyone should set goals in weekly, monthly and yearly increments. For most of my life, my goals had just been in my head, so whether I achieved them or not, no one would really know except me! I have put a lot of time and thought into my goal setting this year and have written them down as public record here on my blog. Most of my goals are dated with a month or date time frame specific on a short, mid or long-range timeline to inhibit complacency and in-action. I then am personally breaking them down in working on different pieces or parts weekly and monthly.
My Crossfit and Life Goals (mid-to-long term)
First and for most, my number one goal is to be a better husband, father, and friend. I struggle with this daily and am constantly thinking about my shortcomings in all three of these areas. So to my wife, kids and close friends, I am working on this and focused on it like a laser and hopefully in the near future you will notice a big difference!
Second and very important to me, even before any of my own personal physical goals, is to be the best coach and trainer I can be to each CFBF member. To focus more on our CFBF member’s needs than my own, and to give Robin and Kevin my full support and help no mater what the circumstances. Sometimes this is requiring a huge attitude adjustment on my part, but know I am working hard to come around and make it happen!
Third, to maintain my consistency with CrossFit and my paleo lifestyle and to step it up a notch for better performance and strength.
Fourth, I will do what ever it takes to reach my goals! I will give 110 percent, and most of all, I will be coachable! I will be working daily to achieve each goal I have set!
Fifth, to update and maintain my blog more consistently.
